NAST tohave NAT’L BIO-TECHNOLOGY CENTRE

Lalitpur, Oct 21: A National Bio-Technology Centre is to be set up at the Nepal Academy for Science and Technology (NAST) in Lalitpur.

Vice-chancellor at the Academy Prof Dr Jivraj Pokharel said the centre would be set up at the NAST premises and the countries that participated in the recently held summit were willing to support for the purpose.

VC Pokharel recently returned home after participating in the 3rd Summit of South Asian Science Academies in New Delhi, India, held on 13 to 17 October. VC Pokharel said a four-member committee was formed to recommend the issues to be raised and done in the bio-technology areas.

Nepal, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka and Bhutan are the member in the advisory committee. Different five working papers were presented in the Summit and Nepal was benefited from the summit, VC Pokharel added.
