Kathmandu, November 13, 2016: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is set to launch the much-awaited e-service this week.

The KMC through its e-service aims more transparency and quality performance.

“The e-service plan, which was initially scheduled to be introduced on July 16, was delayed due to management issues, but it will start this week,” said Dhruba Kafle, chief of KMC Revenue Division.

The e-service will be launched in 31 wards in the first phase, according to Ram Sapkota, chief of Information Technology Section at the KMC. “After a month’s trial, the e-service will be expanded to all the wards,” said Sapkota.

KMC Spokesperson Gyanendra Karki said with the launch of e-governance system, the metropolitan city’s services will become paperless.

The primary objective of e-governance system is to provide prompt services at the people’s doorsteps, he added.

The metropolis is going digital with the support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development. The cost has been estimated at around Rs 40 million.
