Kathmandu,14 Feb 2015: CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said human rights activists should not be the means of political parties for achieving their interests.
Opening the fourth national general convention of National Alliance for Human Rights and Social Justice- Nepal (Human Rights Alliance) here Saturday, leader Oli suggested human rights activists to dedicate themselves towards the welfare of people keeping oneself aloof from political parties and their interests.
Fighting for human rights should always be in favour of democracy and social justice. “Violence is not the ethic of human rights activists and organisations and they should always work freely for the justice of victims”, he said.
Human rights activist Charan Prasai said the concept of human rights is for guaranteeing justice to the people and no political parties should attempt to use them for achieving political interests.
The Alliance is a national level umbrella body of country-based human rights organisations.
