Kathmandu, 9 March, 2015 :  Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that the ongoing talks among political parties regarding the contentious issues of the new constitution would bear result soon.

 

Laying the foundation stone of the office of the Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) in Kathmandu today, Prime Minister Koirala expressed the belief that the ongoing talks would be meaningful soon, as major political parties were holding intensive discussion in this regard.

Stating that although the political parties failed to promulgate the new constitution on January 22, it could not be said that parties were unsuccessful, he pointed out that all NRNs should also point out the weaknesses and wrong doings of the political parties.

The Prime Minister further said that having the office of the NRNA in the country was the symbol of prestige and unity for all the Nepalis in the world.

 

He also urged the NRNs to make their motherland prosperous through their investment and skill as the government has built an investment-friendly environment.

 

Similarly, Chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA), Subas Nembang, said that the new constitution would guarantee the provision of providing citizenship certificates to the NRNs.

 

Nembang also stressed that the NRNs should alert the political parties and leaders to promulgate the new statute on time.

 

Stating that key agreements were signed in the sector of hydropower and infrastructure in present condition as the incumbent government has created investment-friendly environment, Minister for Commerce and Supplies, Sunil Bahadur Thapa praised the initiatives taken by the NRNs for investment.

 

Likewise, CPN (UML) General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel pointed out the need of economic and social transformation in the society.

 

NRN Chairman Shesh Ghale expressed the view that said that the construction of NRN building would help keep teh responsibility towards the motherland mortal.

 

President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Pradeep Jung Pandey, urged the NRNs to invest in the country being confident as the environment conducive for investment was created here.

 

Former NRN President Dr Upendra Mahato argued that the development construction works would only shorten the transition period, saying ‘Nepal is ours and we should make it.”

 

Similarly, former NRN President Jiwa Lamichhane said that construction of the NRN building would contribute for economic stability in the country.

 

A modern NRN building is to be constructed at Baluwatar in Kathmandu with the support of NRNs from 70 different countries in the world. The building is going to be constructed on three ropanis of land at a cost of Rs 200 million.
