Kathmandu, Nov 26: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that it is high time that we in the region worked collectively against poverty, transborder terrorism, crimes, backwardness, climate change and natural disaster, as well as the melting of the Himalayas.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 18th SAARC Summit, Prime Minister also stressed on the implementation of the SAFTA and liberalization of trade.

Expressing happiness over the steady progress of democracy in the region, Prime Minister Koirala said the SAARC summit was being held at a time the international environment was changing rapidly.

Stating that South Asia is a region of young, dynamic and hard working people, the Prime Minister also called for collective efforts for increasing democratization in the region.
