Parsa, 10 Jan 2014: Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Dr Yubraj Khatiwada has said that the country’s economic development was affected due to unnecessary political interference in economic sector.

Opening the 39th annual general assembly of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry here Saturday, development endevours come under political interventions since the formulation process of development-related acts.

The NRB is facilitating to bring the use of Chinese currency in the Nepal-China trade and Nepal’s trade activities with China would be easier as with India once the bilateral agreement is regarding the use of Chinese currency.

Underlining the need of diversification of the investment sector, Governor Dr Khatiwada said commercial banks of the country have the capacity of investing additional Rs 50 billion.

On the occasion, Vice President of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kishor Pradhan stressed the need of constitutional guarantee of investment.

BCCI President Ashok Kumar Baidya demanded the establishment of revenue tribunal and commerce bench in the town. The general assembly that will run for two days is expected to come up a new leadership for the next two years.
