RTI Training to Improve Municipal Governance Kicks Off

Kathmandu, Feb 23,2015: Three-day training on RTI has kicked off in the capital city on this morning. The training organized by the Freedom Forum, a civil society organization, has aimed at promoting good governance at municipality by ensuring citizens’ easy access to the financial and governance-related information.
A total of 33 active youths from different 15 municipalities and five sub metropolis from across the country have been attending the training. The municipalities the participants representing are Malangawa, Gaur, Kalaiya, Hetauda, Bharatpur, Waling, Putalibazar, Baglung, Pokhara, Lekhanath, Ramgram, Kapilvastu, Siddharthanagar, Butwal, Tansen, Nepalgunj, Gulariya, Tikapur, Dhangadi abd Anargadhi.
Programme Officer at the Freedom Forum and training coordinator Anirundra Neupane informed the participants that the training would cater them knowledge on concept of RTI, its importance and legal provisions, practical use of RTI, its relations to good governance, financial information at municipality and the municipal governance.
Inaugurating the training, Freedom Forum Chairman Taranath Dahal said the training to youths on RTI would not only be useful on making the youths aware on administrative malfeasance and measures to control corruption, but also empower them and encourage for the contribution to the nation.
Chairman Dahal, senior journalist Dharmendra Jha and other area experts would facilitate the training.
