Kathmandu, 16th January, 2015Â : Various organisations Friday held street discussions in front of the Constituent Assembly ( CA) building in new Baneshwor, pressing the political parties for timely drafting of a new constitution.
The Raktim Cultural Campaign close to Rastriya Janamorcha and All Nepal Teachers’ Association led the discussion programme. Addressing the event, Rastriya Janamorcha Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC said disputes over federalism among the parties have prevented the CA from
completing its mission within the deadline and in this situation, the constitution be drafted even by going through a process despite our party (Janamorcha) has disagreement on contents of the constitution.
Likewise, the Human Rights and Peace Society staged a sit-in programme for an hour near the CA building, demanding the guarantee of human rights-friendly constitution by January 22.
Also today, the Collective Campaign for Peace (COCAP) also organised a street debate near the CA building with a view to piling pressure on parties to ensure the timely constitution. Speaking at the programme, Nepali Congress leader and lawmaker Chandra Bhandari said parties are receiving positive pressure from youth leaders and there is still possibility of promulgating a new constitution within the announced date.
