Team ‘Dailo’ won the Hult Prize at KU

Kathmandu, December 14, 2018: Kathmandu University has successfully organized the third edition of Hult Prize on 12th December 2018 in KU, Dhulikhel. The competition was participated by 56 teams from all schools of Kathmandu University out of which 4 teams progressed to the final round. Team Dailo, a team of 3 KU students from St. Xavier’s College, BSW Department, and Central Campus won the final competition and will be representing KU in the Regional Finals in March 2019. The winning team constituted Ipsha Sharma, Meena Sherpa, and Anup Sedhai.  

The finalists were Team Dailo, Team Peculiars, Team Sammarda, and Team Goal Diggers. Team Peculiars, Team Sammarda, and Team Goal Diggers were declared as the second, third and fourth respectively. Prof. Dr. Subodh Sharma, the Registrar of Kathmandu University inaugurated the event. The event was sponsored by Unicampus Global and Mero Job and supported by Asian Thai food, Nabil Bank, Ntc and UG.

The final winners were selected by a panel of 12 judges namely Mr. Allen Bailochan Tuladhar, CEO of Unlimited Cloud LLC, Microsoft Innovation Centre, Mr. Umes Shrestha, Cofounder of Empowerment Academy, Mr. Udgum Khadka, Educational Developer of Kings College, Mr. Prawesh Shrestha, Community Innovations Manager of Young Innovations, Mr. Tyler McMahon, International Advisor of Smart Paani, Mr. Roshan Pokharel, Russian tax auditor and CEO of Pokharel Consulting, Dr. Bishal Dhakal, CEO of Health at Home, Mrs. Santoshi Rana, Founder of Bihani Social Venture, Mr. Subash Sharma, CEO of F1Soft International Pvt. Ltd. And Ms. Pranayna KC, CEO of Eco Infinity. 

The winning team of last year’s Hult Prize at Kathmandu University, Team So. Po. Co. represented KU in the Regional Finals in Shanghai, while the second place team, Team Sambhav, represented KU in the Regional Finals in Malaysia. Similarly, this year’s Hult Prize at KU winners will get a chance to choose from the 25+ Regional Finals happening in different cities around the world. The first, second and third place teams will be incubated by Idea Studio and will be coached and mentored for the Regional Finals in March.
