Lamjung, August 5, 2018: Technical Students’ Association of Nepal recently organized a Technical Bootcamp in Institutie of Agriculture and Animal Sciences, Lamjung. The week-long event included one-way and interactive sessions. MS word, MS powerpoint, lightroom , photoshop etc were taught in the bootcamp along with ice-breaking session of computer learning related fun games. The entire event was facilitated by Mr. Kushal Poudel and Mr. Sabin Devkota, senior members of TSAN.

The chief guest of the event was Mr. Janak Raj Mishra, Mayor of Sundarbazar Nagarpalika, Lamjung. On an interview with Glocal Khabar, he explained technology as systematic study of the methods and techniques employed in industry, research, agriculture, and commerce. He related development and Science as “Development at any phase is always linked with technology and technology happens when there is advancement in science. Hence science, technology and development are all proportional to each other.” He further explained that anything having such multi-purpose usage must be widely used and implemented for the enrichment of various aspects of society.

He said that the program is really good initiation especially for the youths who should be technically sound and not just academically strong to compete in today’s world. “Such events are important not just for development of district or any small area but entire nation he added. Science and technology are essential tools in every sector of a society. A nation lacking in science and technology will forever depend on those who claim to be the guardians of scientific and technological knowledge, even if such a country has crude oil. Furthermore, science and technology help in the area of employment as well.” he added.

Bipin Neupane, the Secretary of TSAN further explained the importance of organization of such technical bootcamps by focusing on the fact that laptop and mobile phones are being used limited and a lot of individuals lack the complete knowledge of usage of such items. With the advancement in internet technology such as mobile and internet, people have more access to various forms of entertainment, information and communication. With all these changes the way we interact and use media has changed, however questions can be raised about how much influence this has on us and who controls this. With such bootcamps, one can learn the way on how such gadgets function and have much easy connection and control over gadgets. The Internet is probably most famous for spreading information, fact or fiction. When we were kids we had to limit our information exchange only to news editors of a local paper and cable news.

Another respondent, Sanju Shrestha, one of the participants of the event speaks, “I have learnt a lot from this bootcamp. As someone always interested in learning more about the ways technical gadgets function, I have developed further more interest in this bootcamp.” Ambitiously she said that she was aiming towards the organization of such events where she herself can grow more and let people know the technology at hand.”

She added “Now anyone can search the globe, visit local papers of foreign countries, and see the views of all sides. This ease of information has also brought with it a large number of hoaxes, money schemes, and fallacies. These devices can be seen out among people of all ages, all over the world. Many people consider that without mobile phone, they cannot imagine their life; both in terms of necessity and in terms of a fashion statement.”

Similarly, Aarati khulal, one more partaker described the technicalities of various gadgets as, “Initially mobile phones were launched in the market to provide the normal telephonic communication with the help of the wireless technology and the short message service (sms). The phones also provide phone book storage, organizing of dates and time. The phones also worked as calculators also. These mobiles served as a suitable way of managing and detecting appointments. Technology that advanced from abacus to modern day computers has always led to advancement of human beings.”
