Press Release of TEDxPatan

It gives us immense pleasure to inform you that TEDxPatan was being organized at Yalamaya Kendra on March 24, 2015. On behalf of organizing committee, I would like to thank each and every one for making this event successful.

TED is a global platform devoted to ” Ideas Worth Spreading”. TEDx is a locally organized TED like event that focuses on individuals and innovation in various cities. (visit TED.com and TEDx youtube page)

The theme of our TEDxPatan event is “Starting With The Village”. As you know, the current state of development pattern in Nepal is primarily focused on cities. Further this development is also lacking in socio-cultural and economic growth (both in rural Nepal and urban areas). What we are primarily trying to achieve is to start a discourse on also focusing on the Economical, Agricultural, Socio-Cultural, and Technological development of rural villages of Nepal in tandem with its infrastructural development.

Having had firsthand experience on the alarming gap between development in cities and villages during our educational visits and projects over the years, we decided to start a debate about this and thought a TEDx event would be the right way to do so.

In this invite-only event, we had targeted attendance from government, private sectors, students, Non-Government Organization, Professors, young professionals, community members, and people from all walks of life interested in making a positive impact in lives of rural Nepali.
