Kathmandu, July 13, 2018 : The second session on Skilled Voice series heard Mr. Dil Bhusan Pathak, a prominent Nepali media person with an outstanding skill set who has achieved a lot in the National and International sphere. The series was held at the premises of Glocal After School, Thapagaun, Kathmandu.
Mr. Pathak, who has worked as Editor-in-Chief of Kantipur Television and is also the founder of Interface, Nepal. His company provides all types of media services using different mediums of print, radio, TV, drama and 3D technology. The media personality who has been hosting TV talk-show “Tough Talk with Dil Bhusan Pathak”. Pathak was among the first Nepalese journalists to report on the Maoist conflict that escalated in the late nineties based from the core conflict areas. He was awarded the “Best Journalist of the Year” award in 2005 for his journalistic contributions made during the conflict-era Nepal.
Speaking at the session, Mr. Pathak shared about how he kept on learning new skills in order to grow within the media fraternity from a news reporter at the print media to producing his own talk show with different parties in the television industry. He shared how his curious nature and the constant effort to improve his skill set has helped him learn new skills and implement them to stay ahead in the Industry. “At one point of time when I was producing three documentaries a year, people wouldn’t really understand how this thing was done or what it actually meant”, shared Pathak as he emphasized on thinking out of the box and being open to learning new things. “This is not only important for getting jobs but equally important and useful to start their own business/entrepreneurship”, he added.
The session saw some 30 enthusiastic participants who heard the inspirational media personality and had their queries answered on various topics including the importance and relevance of acquiring skills in order to have a successful career. Answering to one of the participant’s queries, Mr. Pathak said one should dream big and start small as they keep on improving themselves and grow the sphere of their skill set.
In the concluding note, Mr. Asish Thakur, Managing Director of Glocal Pvt. Ltd. shared how there are so many opportunities for the skilled manpower in the country and abroad. Speaking on how skill was important and the skillful workforce had unlimited prospects for employment, he said even they were looking to recruit 5 individuals for the last seven months to complete their workforce but couldn’t find any with the desired skill set. “We took this initiation to spread the awareness on how and why acquiring a set of skills in order to have become successful people both as employees and entrepreneurs”, he added. As Mr. Thakur handed over the token of love from the organizing team, Mr. Pathak said he was overwhelmed by the initiative of the organizers and enthusiasm among the participants was overwhelming and he saw a prospect of a better and prosperous future of the country in their hands.
Skilled Voice Series is an initiation of Glocal After School as a forum to hear the stories and experiences of a skillful journey from the speakers. The speakers will be talking about how skills have helped and shaped them to grow in their personal and professional life, the possibilities of development and opportunities youth of today can pursue through skills with the futuristic vision.
