Kathmandu,17 Jan 2015: The CPN (UML) Saturday held a meeting of the chiefs of its committees in the Kathmandu valley, central and zonal liaison committees and representatives of sister wings in view of the upcoming grand meeting scheduled to be held in the capital on January 19.

The purpose of the January 19 meeting is to inform party hierarchy about progress over the constitution drafting process and to the people, as well. In today’s meeting held at the party central office, Balkhu, party General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel stated the party was ready to be flexible regarding the matters of electoral system, judiciary and form of governance in the new constitution.

He said consensus-based constitution was possible if the UCPN (Maoist) including other parties presented themselves with flexibility over the state restructuring issue, according to participants present in the meeting.

The party has no disagreement with the adoption of mixed electoral system, he said, arguing that Constitutional Court for the tenure of maximum ten years with specified work, responsibility and jurisdiction could be established.
