Khotang, 16 October 2014: General Secretary of the Federal Socialist Party Nepal, Rajendra Shrestha, has claimed that nobody could wish away the federalism issue.
He said this while inaugurating the First District Conference of the party’s Khotang district committee today.
Leader Shrestha said there is no alternative to launching an agitation now that the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) are trying to bring the same old version of the constitution by removing the identity issue. He argued for the inclusion of the identity issue in the new constitution as the topic of identity has been included in the Interim Constitution as well.
The FSPN General Secretary called for unity among the indigenous nationalities, dalits, the backward classes, Muslims and the marginalized communities for securing their identity in the new constitution.
Taking part in the district conference are representatives and delegates from 72 VDCs and one municipality in the district. The inaugural session was chaired by party’s district coordinator Surya Bahadur Rai. The conference is slated to elect the party’s new leadership in the district.
