NPC URGES MINISTRIES CONCERNED TO IMPLEMENT NUTRITION PROGRAMME

Kathmandu, Sept 21: The National Planning Commission (NPC) has urged the ministers concerned to bring the nutrition programme into implementation with high priority.

The Ministries for Education, Federal and Local Development, Health and Population and Agriculture have been jointly launching the nutrition programme in Accham, Bara, Bajura, Jumla, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi, Parsa and Rasuwa districts.

 

At a programme organised by the NPC here today to review the nutrition programme, it informed that the malnutrition has affected overall development of children.

 

Children suffer underweight and under height and women between 15-49 years suffer from anemia due to malnutrition. The ministries have been jointly running the nutrition programme to address such problems.

On the occasion, NPC Secretary, Sharada Prasad Trital, urged for effective implementation of the nutrition programme, saying it would make great contribution to improve overall health situation of children and women.

The two-day programme will review the progress of the programme.
