Kathmandu, Nov 10,2014: The task of maintenance and preservation of the stretch of road from Maitighar to Tinkune in the capital city for the next five years has been handed over to a social and a corporate organization.

As per the Corporate Social Responsibility, the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority on Monday gave Nepal Telecom (NT) the task of maintaining the road stretch from Maitighar to Naya Baneshwor while giving Lions Club the responsibility of the remaining portion from New Baneshwor to Tinkune.

A bilateral agreement has been reached allowing the organizations to plant saplings, create a flower garden and maintain the garden at the road stretch, according to Dr Bhaikaji Tiwari, Deputy Development Commissioner at the Authority.

Tiwari said that the NTC and Lions Club would not be allowed to advertise although they can mention the names of their organizations.

NTC Spokesperson Madhusudhan Karmacharya said the works relating to planting flowers in the road section falling under NTC’s responsibility had started from today as per the agreement.

He said NTC would focus on planting 5,000 flowers and colouring in the first phase and keep the environmental aspect in mind while carrying out the works.

The Lions Club is learnt to have started preparation for preservation of the road stretch under its responsibility and create a flower garden.

The Authority had given the Agricultural Development Bank the responsibility of maintenance of Maitighar a year ago.
