Ratnanagar (Chitwan), Aug. 8: Number of people acquiring passport has increased by doouble in Chitwan district in the last fiscal year 2070-71 BS as compared to the previous fiscal year.
As per the statistics provided by the Chitwan Administration Office, a total of 30,453 people obtained passport in the fiscal year 2070-71 BS while it was 16,550 in the previous fiscal year.
Officiating Chief District Officer, Shiva Ram Gelal, said that number of people acquiring passport was high due to growing trend of overseas employment.In the fiscal year 2069-70 BS, a total of 11,585 Chitwan folks obtained the passport from the District Administration Office and 4,965 from fast service. The office collected Rs 59.3 million in revenue during the period.
According to the Office, it collected Rs 83.3 million in revenue in the last fiscal year.Similarly, number of people obtaining citizenship certificate was decreased by double in the fiscal year 2070-71 BS as compared to the previous fiscal year.
A total of 11,555 people acquired citizenship certificate in the last fiscal year against 24,772 in the fiscal year 2069-70 BS.According to the Office, number of people obtaining citizenship certificate was decreased as less number of mobile camps were organised in the district in the last fiscal year as compared to the previous fiscal.
A total of 3,677 people had obtained citizenship certificate from mobile camps while only 187 people acquired citizenship certificate in the fiscal year 2070-71 BS. RSS
