Obstructed BP highway comes into operation

Singhuli, February 21, 2017: The BP Highway, obstructed after a road section at Shitalpati VDC-9 caved in on Sunday night, has resumed for traffic.

One-way traffic has been resumed along the highway by carrying out repair and maintenance on an alternative route. The traffic obstructed from 11:00 pm on Sunday was brought into operation after 19 hours, said Chief of Banepa-Sindhuli-Bardibas road project, Bharatkaji Tiwari.

All the stranded vehicles were sent to their respective destinations.

Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Sindhuli, Uma Shankar Panjiyar, said that no traffic would be allowed in the night as it is risky to run the vehicles in the night.

Only one-way traffic would be brought into operation for the time being in view of the safety as transport service has to be operated along the narrow alternative road section.

Traffic movement would be closed in the evening and brought into operation from 6:00 am, he added.
