Three Sisters- Glocal Khabar

Kathmandu, March 7, 2018: One Word Theater is set to stage a play based on ‘Three Sisters’ written by the Russian writer Anton Chekhov from March 9, 2018, to March 18, 2018.

One World Theater Nepal is presenting a modern version of the original play. Kavita Srinivasan as Masha, Kurchi Dasgupta as Olga, Samapika Gautam as Irina and Rajkumar Pudasaini as Chebutykin will be presenting the lead roles of the play. The play is influenced by the Russian society and culture of 1900’s.

The story is a window into four moments across four years in the lives of the Pronzorov sisters, Olga, Masha, and Irina. The sisters spend their days longing for their past life living off malaise with the officers from the nearby artillery post in Moscow and staving off malaise with the officer from the nearby artillery post. As the years pass, the sisters fall in and out of love, people adapt and change and Moscow becomes a continually more distant dream.

One World Theatre Nepal is a non-profit English language theatre company in Kathmandu, dedicated to presenting intercultural, social justice productions, especially plays from South Asia, the Western canon, and contemporary American plays that are affordable, professional and relevant.
