Kathmandu, February 25, 2018: As a part of the Open Nepal initiative, Center for Data Journalism, Freedom Forum, Kathmandu Living Labs, Local Interventions Group, Bikas Udhyami, Open Knowledge Nepal and Data for Development Program are set to organize ‘Open Data Day Nepal 2018’ on March 3, 2018, at Patan Durbar Square and Museum.
Open Data Day is a full-day free and interactive event where the general public will get an opportunity to experience and learn the importance of data in the context of Nepal’s development.
The major activities to take place in the event are Photo Exhibition around Patan Durbar Square, data treasure hunt and data related children activities at Adarsha school, panel discussion and presentations and musical performance.
As a part of the pre-event, Open Knowledge Nepal (OKN) and Center for Data Journalism(CDJN) are organizing ‘Datathon for Journalist’ (Journalist Datathon) on February 28, 2018. It will provide journalists a space to implement their learning by using data in practice. The final products of this event will be showcased at the main Open Data Day event on March 3, 2018. Similarly, the top 5 data posters from the data poster competition will also be showcased during the final Open Data Day event.
