Paddy production to go up by 15 per cent in Baitadi

Baitadi, 31 October, 2014:  Paddy production is expected to increase by 15 per cent in the district this year.

According to senior officer at the District Agriculture Development Office, Kamlesh Tiwari, paddy production is expected to increase this year due to the favourable monsoon and use of quality seeds and proper irrigation facilities.

As much as 18, 360 metric tonnes paddy was produced from the crop cultivated on a total 9,000 hectares of land in the district last year, Tiwari said.

Meanwhile, the production is expected to decrease by 15 to 20 per cent in Kanchanpur district due to rainfall occurred during the harvesting season, said Tikaram Thapa, officer at the DADO, Kanchapur.

Similarly, the DADO office Darchula has stated that the office will purchase the agricultural products and vegetable seeds produced by the local farmers, said DADO officer Indra Singh Thagunna.
