Paddy Production To Go Up By 5 Per cent

Banepa, Oct 30, 2014:  Paddy production is expected to increase by five per cent in Kavre district this year.

According to senior officer at the District Agriculture Office, Deepak Poudel, the paddy production is expected to increase this year due to the favourable monsoon and use of quality seeds.

The traditional hybrid seeds have been replaced by improved high-yielding seeds, therefore, it is expected to contribute to production increase, Poudel added.

As many as 37,000 metric tonnes paddy was produced from the crop cultivated on a total 11,319 hectares of land last year, Poudel said.

Phulbari, Dapcha, Kushadevi, Panauti, Mahadevsthan, Ugrachandi, Nala and Janagal areas are considered as the pocket areas for paddy production, DAO sources said.
