Lukla, February 29, 2016: The bomb scare onboard a Simrik Airlines aircraft in Luka Airport on Monday was a hoax, police confirmed.

Fear and panic gripped Lukla Airport this morning when a paper with ‘bomb inside’ was found while unloading the plane, Nepal Police spokesperson Madhav Joshi said.

Police conducted a detailed inspection of the plane and its cargo after the scare but found no explosive or suspicious items, said Joshi. The airlines official Ujjwal Thapa said the plane is preparing to return to Kathmandu after it was cleared by security officials for flying.

“We will start an internal investigation to find out how the paper ended inside the plane,” said Thapa.

A Nepal Army bomb disposal team was also put on alert following the hoax.

The plane had flown into Lukla from Kathmandu at 7:15 am and landed at the airport on 7:45 in the morning.
