Paras Katuwal wins the Global Student Entrepreneur Award

Kathmandu, March 1, 2016: Paras Katuwal a student of The British College became the proud winner of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) Nepal competition. The GSEA Nepal competition was successfully organized by Entrepreneurs’ Organization Nepal in partnership with Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs’ Forum (NYEF) in Mid Valley International College, Gyaneswor, Kathmandu.

Paras’s company Nepal Thopa Sinchai Pvt. Ltd. supplies advance agricultural and smart irrigation tools and services to farmers and institutes working in technology based modern agriculture. It is a pioneering company in the field of complete irrigation package in Nepal providing delivery of drip and sprinkler irrigation, fogger system as well as fertilization equipment for small land holders, commercial agricultural farm, golf courses, hotel gardens, residential and offices premises. It also provides training packages, counseling to new farmers and does feasibility study for commercial agriculture including layout and farm design.

Paras will go on to represent Nepal at the 2016 GSEA Global Finals in Bangkok, Thailand. He will be competing against the top student entrepreneurs from around the world in the hopes of winning over US$400,000 in cash and donated prizes. He has also won a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- in GSEA Nepal Finals.

The second place went to Ritesh Marwadi, a student of Lord Buddha Education Foundation. His company, We Fear Silence is a breakthrough concept in events and marketing that has revolutionized the music and clubbing scene in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is also 360 degree brand communication agency based in Kathmandu with presence in major cities in Nepal. Ritesh won a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-.

The third place went to Asish Thakur, a student of King’s College. His venture, Glocal Pvt. Ltd. works on online media, ECAs consultant and web/app development. Asish won a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-.

The judges for the competition were Suman Joshi, Former CEO of Laxmi Bank; Dileep Agrawal, Managing Director and Founder of World Link Communications; Samir Thapa, Chairman of Silver Mountain Group of Companies; Bibhusan Bista, Founder and CEO of Young Innovations; Ajay Shrestha, Chairman and Managing Director of iCapital; and Pavitra Gautam, Founder and CEO of Karkhana.

The GSEA Chair for Nepal, Reetal Rana mentioned that competitions like GSEA have helped to inspire students to understand that innovations in businesses are a key tool to success.
