Biratnagar, March 31, 2017: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has remarked that the local level elections will be held on time as the people are highly enthusiastic to cast their votes and elect their representatives.
Talking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport on Friday, leader Deuba said the elections must be held to fulfil the people’s aspirations. “We are holding talks with Madhesi alliance and they will soon come onboard for elections. We can’t deprive the people of their rights to elect their representatives.”
He called on everyone to make the local level election slated for May 14 successful.
He made it clear that the issue of provincial boundaries can’t be resolved before the elections but the environment for amending the constitution to address the demands of Madhesi Morcha is being created. He added that the issue of constitution amendment would be finalised within a week.
He suggested that the political parties are working to increase the number of local units in a bid to bring the Madhesi alliance on board the elections.
