An inspiration worth a lifetime
I wonder how someone can be so much motivated, passionate and dedicated to doing something in life. Whether it is a compulsion to do so or interest; if we wish to do and be something, we should work with patience and put all the effort that we can. I got this inspiration not from a big and famous personality but from a lady who is working for her livelihood with her initiation.
Last month, I got a chance to meet Mrs. Durga Danuwar. She is an entrepreneur based in Udayapur district who is proprietor of the locally popular ‘NiNi Dalmoth Bhujiya’.
An adorable and happy person, she has seen many ups and downs in her life. She was a victim of child marriage due to illiteracy. Yes, child marriage, at the age of 16! Guess what’s more troubling? She is a physically challenged person.
She had lost her father when she was 3; at the same time, she got Piles on her feet. In those sad moments, she didn’t share about the disease to her mother. After few days, her mother saw that and gave a massage thinking the leg must have swollen. Due to the massage, nerves got affected, leaving her with the lifelong disability. The bitter truth our society is: differently abled people are taken as burden to the family that’s why she was married off too earlier.
Though having gone through lots of hinderances, she has become successful with her patience and faith in herself, and confidence in what she did.
After the marriage, she was just sustaining her life doing seasonal works. But, she wanted to polish her skills so that she could do something of her own. Fortunately, she came to know about a training being provided by UNDP in her city. The training was of 7 days long where she learned to make Dalmoth Bhujiya.
She started her own business with such a small amount of investment that we can’t even imagine. Yes, she started the business of making Dalmoth Bhujiya with just 200 rupees.
Her product was loved by the children and got an instant popularity, and the business grew gradually.
What is behind the success, popularity and sustainability of NiNi Dalmoth Bhujiya? She makes dalmoth on a daily basis so as to maintain its quality/freshness and doesn’t use any kinds of chemical on her products.
These days, she earns as much as Rs. 50,000- 80,000 in a month. Isn’t it a huge success? But she has a lot more ideas and is planning to do even better in the future.
Regardless of her weakness, today she has become one of the most successful and inspirational entrepreneurs in the region. She believed in herself and worked for her and family. She is probably the best example for everyone that nothing can stop us if we wish to do something. When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it provided you have confidence in yourself.
Hats off to her effort, confidence and belief. Education only is not enough, practicality and effort to do something are most important which can surely make us successful like her.
