PM Koirala: All Should Move In Path Of National Unity

Rasuwa (Dhunche), May 6, 2015: All should move ahead on the path of national unity, as per Prime Minister Sushil Koirala. He has called upon all the citizens to be united and involved in the rescue and relief works without discrimination. Prime Minister advised that he motivate all to give up sympathetic interest and join hands in support of the people for confronting the wrath of nature.

In order to observe the damage caused by the devastating earthquake on April 25, Prime Minister arrived in Dhunche, the headquarters of the Rasuwa District, at 9 am today on an army helicopter 9 NRA 7. Prime Minister Koirala and opposition party leader Dahal reached Rasuwa in the same helicopter while UML Chairman Oli reached there on different helicopter of Nepal Army.

The Prime Minister also admired the work carried out in the district in terms of rescue and relief distribution.Unified CPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN (UML) chairman KP Sharma Oli have also arrived here coinciding with the Prime Minister’s arrival.

Also, he assured that the people of continued support in terms of all the facilities and services to be provided from the Centre. He suggested making arrangements for building temporary sheds for the quake victims with corrugated zinc sheet roofs for the settlement  during the monsoon (rainy) season taking into account the weakened condition of the ground following the earthquake. He said a thought should be given to building quake-resistant shelters only after the monsoon season is over.

since,the top leaders of the three major parties were together in the midst of the people of Rasuwa and giving the message of unity, the civil society in Rasuwa has expressed the belief that the district would get adequate relief assistance and support for reconstruction.The leaders made an up above  inspection of the earthquake-ravaged places in the district including Langtang.

Chief District Officer Uddhav Prasad Bhattarai informed the Prime Minister that around 90 percent houses are completely destroyed, 456 people died while 752 were injured in Rasuwa district . He added government services in the district has been affected as some of the office buildings were also collapsed and also briefed over the overall situation impact the devastating earthquake on April.

And in the last 11 days different rescue teams have rescued 352 tourists from Rasuwa. The district has been receiving tents, rice, grains and other foodstuff, and that the local administration has continued relief distribution to the earthquake victims.
Similarly, former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist) Dahal urged one and all to unite and carry on rescue, relief distribution, and rehabilitation of the earthquake victims. Likewise, on this unbearable loss of the country UML chairman Oli expressed for the eternal peace of those died in the disaster and wished for the speedy recovery of the inured. He also urged all to unite and face the disaster.

Briefing about the services provided by the Nepal Army Narayan Dal Battalion reported that the NA provided medical services to 941 people including 75 foreigners injured in the earthquake.

Prime Minister Koirala appreciated work done by  Nepali Congress district president Lama Karpu Tamang, alternative member of UML central committee Madhav Aryal, UCPN (Maoist) leader Indra Gotame  for providing relief and rehabilitate the people displaced by the earthquake.
