Belauri (Kanchanpur), Dec 14: The natural ponds inside the Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve in the district are gradually drying up.
The Reserve Office in the district said the sediments with the rivers from Chure region is one of causes to dry up the ponds.
Conservation Officer Bed Kumar Dhakal said dozens of lakes inside the Reserve as Ranital and Kalikich are filled up with sediments in rainy season and got dry in winter.
The Office has cleared the deposits and weeded the lakes just for two times.
Verification of Identity of Reserve Victims
Meanwhile, the identity cards of the people having their lands encroached with reserve expansion are being crosschecked.
The Shuklaphanta Reserve Victims’ Problem Solution Commission began the verification of the cards, informed Commission Chairman Thakur Prasad Sharma, adding that after the completion of the verification, the people with real encroachment of their land during the expansion of the Reserve will be compensated.
