Kathmandu, April 6, 2017: Prakriti S. Tuladhar, a 5th Semester student of BSc. CSIT at Deerwalk Institute of Technology has been declared the winner for King’s Article Writing Competition.
Narottam Aryal, Executive Director of King’s College handed over her with certificate and cash prize of NRs. 5,000.
The topic of the competition was “The glamorization of start-up culture encourages people to start own companies rather than pursue traditional career paths,” where the applicants had to submit their articles online.
The competition was open for where participants from different walks of life, including students, journalists, startup founders and others had applied. To maintain originality in the articles, Plagiarism Test was filtered from Turnitin.com where plagiarism of up to 20% was considered as valid. And, those articles exceeding 20% plagiarism were disqualified from the competition.
The jury for the competition was Mr. Umes Shrestha, faculty of King’s College.
Elated after winning the competition, Tuladhar shared, “This is the first time I have participated in such a competition, and it was totally unexpected for me winning the competition.” She further shared that many of the college students these days are willing to start their own company instead of pursuing traditional career paths as the startup culture has been glamorized to some extent. “And, I think it’s ultimately helping the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Nepal,” she opined.
