Pokhara, January 11, 2016: Pokhara-based journalist Durga Bhandari is to be honoured with the â€˜Press Chautari Journalism Prize 2071â€™.
The prize established by the Press Chautari Kaski Chapter would be offered to Bhandari for her contributions to press freedom, democratic movement and institutional development of Press Chautari.
The prize carries a purse of Rs 11,111 and a letter of appreciation.
Bhandari, who began her career from Janaastha Weekly since 2053, is the editor of Kaski Sandesh Weekly published from Pokhara.
Chairman of Press Chautari Kaski Chapter Madhav Baral said that Bhandari would be prized on February 5 at an event on the occasion of the establishment day of Press Chautari.
So far, journalists Punya Poudel, Madhav Sharma, Nabaraj Subedi, Rudra Bahadur Thapa, Hari Bastola and Khem Saru were given the prize in the earlier years.
