Kathmandu, October 7, 2016:Â President Bidhya Devi Bhandari today stressed the need for selfless leadership to guide the country towards progress and prosperity.
Speaking at a programme organised on the occasion of International Day of the Girl Child at the Sheetal Niwas yesterday, she said leaders needed to work hard to give a new direction to the country.
As many as 40 girl children from 22 districts of Nepal had attended the programme ‘President with Girl Child’ organised by the National Girls Network Nepal.
On the occasion, girls had presented a model policy and programme endorsed by a mock Parliament of girl children.
Speaking at the programme, Rabindra Adhikari, chairman of the Development Committee of the Parliament, said girls could lead society and the nation, if provided with ample opportunities.
“Therefore, the government and the private sector should give them equal opportunity in all areas of life,†he stressed. The International Day of the Girl Child is marked on October 11.
