OUTLET TO THE SUNKOSHI RIVER

Kathmandu, Aug. 2: Prime Minister Suhsil Koirala has directed the Home Ministry to give easy and safe outlet to the Sunkoshi River blocked triggered by landslide occurred at Jure of Sindhupalchowk district at around 3.00 this morning in a cautious manner to save the life and property and physical infrastructures in the calamity-ridden area.

Prime Minister Koirala issued the directive after he came to know that the  massive landslide occurred in Jure of Ramche VDC caused the rise of flow of the river to 130 metres and subsequent inundation of houses and disruption of highway.

At a press release issued by Prime Minister Koirala’s press coordinator Prakash Adhikari this morning, PM Koirala directed all security agencies, local administration and the agencies responsible for the management of natural disaster relief to shift the vulnerable communities in he vicinity of river to secured places.

The Prime Minister also directed the authorities concerned to make local people aware to take safety measures and explore cautious measures to give outlet to blocked portion of the river, reads the press statement.
