Palpa, 16 Â October 2015: Rafting has resumed here in the Kaligandaki River recently after two months. Rafting was obstructed by the Kaligandaki Hydropower Project.
Rafting has been resumed on about 10 kilometers down the Kaligandaki River from Maldhunga of Baglung district to Ramdi, adjoining point of Palpa and Syangja districts. The route for rafting is planned to be extended in the future frrom Ramdi to Devghat, it is learnt.
Devghat is a major pilgrimage site. The place is the tri-junction of three districts, Tanahun, Chitwan and Nawalparasi.
It is targeted to the religious and other tourists and to promote the potentiality of tourism development in the region. A local entrepreneur of Chapakot Ram Kunwar began the service at a total cost of Rs 1.5 million.
The Kaligandaki River is highly potential for launching rafting services, however, it needs more publicity for tourism promotion in the region as well, Kunwar added. Over 100 foreign tourists and 300 Nepalese so far have taken this service.
