Bhaktapur, March 10, 2019: Rajarshi Gurukul football team registered a win in “Grass root Football League” organized by Madhyapur Youth Association in Madhyapur, Thimi.
With a goal to motivate students of age group (6 -13) years from Bhaktapur district towards sport events; 16 teams from various schools and youth clubs were called for participation. The league was split into two different groups: Senior and Junior.
Manoj Ranjit, Organizer of the Association said, “Rajarshi Gurukul won the award in the Juniors pool, while Nepal Youth Program became the winner in the senior pool.”
Among the junior teams, consisting of students from age group 8 – 10, Nepal Youth Program and Madhyapur Youth Association became second and third respectively. While Gladstone Academy and Nexus Academy were announced second and third in the senior pool.
The winners and participating teams were facilitated with the trophy and medals by the Mayor of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, Madan Sundar Shrestha, and Deputy Mayor, Anjana Devi Madhikarmi.
According to Ranjit, almost 480 students showed their active participation during the league. Along with various dignitaries of Bhaktapur, former national player Upendra Man Singh was present in the event.
