KATHMANDU, OCT 19: Switch On Events and Management, in collaboration with Rose Foundation Nepal, organised a breast cancer awareness rally titled Walkathon—Together for Hope on Saturday. The event primarily aimed to promote the concept of ‘breast self-examination’ for women—to encourage them to get regularly screened for breast cancer.
The rally, which started from Patan Durbar Square a little after eight in the morning, then moved through Pulchowk, Jawalakhel, Lagankhel and Mangal Bazaar, before culminating 45 minutes later upon its return to Patan Durbar Square. A short information session by doctors on the topic of breast cancer was also held during the event.
Before the commencement of the rally, a two-minute silence was observed by the participants, and Shikshya Shrestha, a survivor of breast cancer, released balloons.
Siddhant Shrestha, one of the organisers, said that their attempt to raise awareness
among the people regarding breast cancer was also a part of their social corporate responsibility.
The organisers said that according to registrations and the number of t-shirts sold at the event, more than 1,500 people had gathered together to promote the noble cause.
