Rasuwa achieves the status of a literate district

Rasuwa, February 14, 2018: According to the ‘Literate Nepal’ mission launched in 2012, the government has recently affirmed 43 district of the country as literate in terms of adult literacy. Rasuwa has become the newest district to be added to the list of a literate district on February 10, 2018.

The announcement of Rasuwa being literate district was made among a function jointly planned by the District Education Office, Rasuwa and District Informal Education Committee. Mohan Acharya, who is an engineer by profession, made the declaration at the function. HomNath Neupane, District Education officer, mentioned that “Out of the total of 75 districts, our’s is the 43rd district to get the status of a literate district.”

In the total population of 96.29 percent, 15 to 60 years of age is literate in Rasuwa. This was the main reason behind the officials to declare Rasuwa as a literate district. ‘National Literacy Program’ was also organized by the District Education Office to achieve the status.

The concerned authority has stated that they would continue their literacy campaign even in the coming years to make sure that 95 percent or more population in the district to become literate in the true sense. The literacy program had 53 classes for 525 students.
