Kathmandu, June 27, 2017: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is all set to start free Wi-Fi services in touristic places around the city.
As per KMC spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal, major heritage sites and touristic destinations would have the facility of free internet services, and visitors can avail the services with the entry tickets to the sites. Dhakal further informed that providing the free Wi-Fi service is the first priority of KMC now.
As of current, the services would be available at Swoyambhu, Basantapur, and Pashupatinath temple premises. KMC is calling for bids very soon for the installation of the services. Meanwhile, KMC has already called for bids for installing internet facility at Balaju, and the work would initiate soon.
After initiating free Wi-Fi services at Ratnapark, KMC saw a rapid surge in the number of visitors to the park. Encouraged by the response, KMC had planned to avail free Wi-Fi services at these four touristic locations.
Earlier, Ratnapark used to generate revenue worth 50 lakh rupees in a year. Now, it has reached 1 crore after installing the free Wi-Fi facility.
