Kathmandu, Feb 24, 2015: Reaching out Young Minds (ROYM), a one day orientation workshop on HIV & AIDS on 19th February 2015 was held at The British College, Kathmandu by YUWA.
ROYM is a part of the project â€œI Under_stand HIVâ€, which is being conducted by YUWA in partnership with MTV Staying Alive Foundation since 5 years.
29 young students of BBA, BSc (Hons) Computing & ACCA, actively participated in the workshop that was aimed at providing the information on various issues of HIV and AIDS, vulnerabilities associated with young people, stigma and discrimination in HIV and AIDS.
A one day workshop consisted of capacity strengthening of participants by empowering them in response to AIDS , mainstreaming individuals to HIV response by inviting young people to support the new generation leadership especially of young key affected people in AIDS response.
The sessions covered about HIV and youth dynamics, issue opening to youths, concepts of stigma and discrimination and the role that young people can play in combating the issue. The whole day session was conducted throughÂ interactive discussions, youth friendly games and use of multimedia. The students in the final part of the session presented their views in the form of group drama and group presentation.
