Kathmandu,7 Feb 2015: UCPN (Maoist) has expressed its readiness for holding negotiation if the ruling parties discontinued the ongoing process to put the contentious issues on vote.
In a news conference at the party central office on Saturday, UCPN (Maoist) Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma said that the current political stalemate was the result of the ruling parties’ obstruction of the consensual process.
“Prime Minister Sushil Koirala must make a public announcement if the ruling parties want to start the dialogue and express commitment to follow the past agreements,” Sharma said.
Sharma added the opposition parties would have no other alternative to resort to agitation if the ruling parties decided to press with the voting process and not create an environment conducive for a consensual consensus.
Stating the agendas of republic, federalism, secularism, inclusiveness, and proposal representation were the product of his party, the UCPN (Maoist) leader said it was wrong to accept the agendas while rejecting UCPN (Maoist).
Sharma said it was the government’s onus to create a confidential environment and added that the opposition would not sit for negotiation for the sake of formality if attempts persisted on confounding and deceiving the opposition.
On the occasion, UCPN (Maoist) leader Lilamani Pokharel alleged as dubious the intention harboured by Nepali Congress and UML and stressed for heading to agitation as the only alternative to ensure people’s right.
The past uprisings have always ended in agreement depriving the people of their rights, Pokharel said adding that the impending agitation would not be laced with agreement.
