Kathmandu, Sept 18: The Tourist Police Division has registered an increasing number of complaints of robbery and fraud with foreign tourists being cheated in different parts of the country.
Monthly around 90 complaints and grievances related to fraud and robbery are found to have been registered at the Division. According to the data maintained at the Division, total 984 complaints were filed in the fiscal year of 2070-71 BS while it is 134 during the first two months of the current fiscal year.
Sub Inspector of the Division Im Prakash Wagle said most of the cases registered are theft of gadgets (mobile, laptop) and luggage and fraud with tourists.
According to the police sources, mostly the tourists are found to have been cheated in and around Thamel, Basantapur and Bhaktapur.
