IANS,May 7, 2016- English rock band the Rolling Stones have asked US presidential hopeful Donald Trump to stop playing their songs during his rallies.

The band became enraged after learning the billionaire was using their music as part of a soundtrack to his appearances, reports mirror.co.uk.

“The Rolling Stones have never given permission to the Trump campaign to use their songs and have requested that they cease all use immediately,” read a statement.

The band’s 1969 classic “You can’t always get what you want” was a popular song for Trump’s events, and during an event on Tuesday night, the campaign played the song “Start me up”.

Trump is a well known music fan using songs including some by Elton John to greet his arrival on stage.

In US, political rallies don’t need artists’ permission to play their songs as long as they or the venue has obtained a license from the performing rights organisation ASCAP and BMI for all the music in the licensing group’s repertoire.

Adele and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler have previously asked Trump to stop playing their music to fire up crowds.
