Ruling parties' ego mars constitution writing: Chair Dahal

Kathmandu, Nov 18: UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the constitution drafting process would reach a precarious situation if the past agreements were neglected.

While receiving the memorandum submitted by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Dahal said that the ruling parties are only oriented in mathematical calculation after neglecting the spirit of past consensus.

He further said that the problem has been sensed as the ruling parties are only oriented in mathematical calculation forgetting the spirit of  the past agreement and co-work of the Twelve-Point Agreement, Interim Constitution,  Compressive Peace Accord among others.

Leader Dahal said that though his party was ready to be flexible to draft the constitution on slated time so that, that would acceptable to all, ruling parties have been found concentrated only on pompous of majority.

He further said that the new constitution that fails to accept the spirit of different peoples’ movements would have no meaning therefore, such constitution would not be acceptable to his party but the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) are working to revive the constitution of 2047 BS.

Environment for timely constitution has not been sensed totally pessimist but the activities of the ruling parties have created some problem alike.

Leader Dahal said his party is making efforts to enhance the skill and professional security of the media persons in the new constitution.

While submitting the memorandum, FNJ president Dr Mahendra Bista urged the chair Dahal to complete constitution writing on slated time.
