Kathmandu, February 6, 2019: Safer Internet Day was celebrated in Nawalparasi on February 5, 2019 with the slogan of “Together For A Better Internet” in collaboration with Youth for change Nepal, Better Nawalparasi and Jigriti Child and Youth Concern(JCYCN).
Organizations that are concerned with safe cyber were also involved in this event. Every year this program is conducted in more than 100 countries all around the world. According to the latest data from Nepal, It has shown that there are nearly one crore facebook and media users. Among them, half of the users are youths and children age under 25.
As stated by the program organizer, Deepak Sharma, “The motive of this program is to bring awareness among teenagers and youth about the cyber crimes and misuses of the internet.”
Likewise, President of Youth Nepal Raju Chapagain added, “There was the participation of the students and teachers from Bhimsen Secondary School, Prithvi Secondary School and Sakala Secondary School.”
On the purpose of sharing information regarding unsafe uses of internet and various abuses that take place in media were discussed. The program successfully ended by putting up the signature of 300 students in a banner with a title saying “We will use the internet safely”.
