15 years old programmer, Sahil describes himself as a technology enthusiast. He believes that this is the world of technologies and learning to code teaches us logic. It give us an ability to build whatever we think regardless of which field it is related to. Sahil is a 10th grader at Janaki Secondary Boarding School, Janakpur. He is passionate about computer and programming. Currently, he is working on promotion of Janaki Computer Science Club. He is the Founder and President of the Club. Since he has more than 4 years of experience in programming, he instructs as well. The club is one of its kind since it is the first ever club in his school that is dedicated for programming and computer.
Starting of his journey
Asking him on how he started his journey, he said, “I had failed in 5th grade. But I had a friend who indulged me into the computer science field. I started working a lot of days and nights. People were also complaining that these works will spoil my studies. But I didn’t listen to anything. I moved on. I started leadership from being the monitor of my class and finally became the school captain. Both my enthusiasm and leadership helped me a lot to achieve whatever I have now. And my family supported me a lot to this. With the help of our vice principal, I started the club in the very beginning of this year.”
Making a difference
On asking about the role he is playing to make a difference in the society, he said, “Since we don’t have any computer trainer who teaches in modern style, I took the lead. My thought is that I learn by teaching others. Since childhood I had a dream to teach children a totally different thing. And most important I am getting a strange satisfaction by doing so. It’s also my passion.”
He shared that the most memorable moment of his life while he was giving his first bootcamp class. He said he was nervous but excited. There he had some technical problems but luckily everything went successfully. He said, “I felt an immense sensation of satisfaction and said myself, ‘Well, Good Job!’.
A step towards teen hero
To him, to be in the Glocal’s 20under20 of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero 2018 was the biggest goal. He said, “For me it’s a great platform which recognize our work as per our past works done to impact others life. Well, I saw people were really benefited by being the teen hero and also it helped them to make good connections with awesome people.”
No person who is enthusiastic about his work has anything to fear from life. Sahil K. Gupta has enthusiastic heart who finds opportunities wherever he goes. Even though being a 10th grader student, he is aware of what he is doing and its positive consequences. He sees himself to shine with his rising responsibilities. He said, “I see I have done a lot of things in my life which has impacted others’ life. I can see myself as an able youth of the country by doing a lot of great works through my same club which is spreading connections nationwide”.
He is a kind of boy who doesn’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out his own inner voice. And most important, has the courage to follow his heart and intuition.
