Kathmandu, November 15, 2016: Sajha Yatayat, a cooperative public transport limited, is all set to operate new buses on four routes in the Kathmandu Valley.
Sajha Yatayat had written to the Transport Management Bagmati Zonal Office on November 9 seeking route permit for operation of its 30 new buses that it purchased from India.
Acting chief executive officer of Sajha Yatayat, Mahendra Raj Pandey informed RSS that in addition to the eight buses that are already operating the Yatayat will add 30 new buses on the four routes for the convenience of the general public.
“We are confident of getting the route permits in a couple of days and will operate the buses once we get the permit,” he said.
According to executive officer Pandey, the Sajha has applied for permission from the Department of Transport Management for the operation of its services on four routes comprising major destinations within the Valley.
The route no 1 includes Lagankhel, Jawalakhel, Kupandole, Tripureshwor, NAC, Jamal, Lainchaur, Lazimpat, Panipokhari, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Narayangopal Chowk, Basundhara, Samakhusi Chowk and New Buspark. The two-way service from Lagankhel to New Buspark will be available under this route.
Likewise, under the route no 2 services, the Sajha two-way service will be available from TIA to New Buspark via Tilganga, Gaushala, Ratopul, Jainbhawan, Dilli Bazaar, Bagbazaar, Old Buspark, Sahid Gate, New Road, Jamal, Lainchaur, Thamel, Sorhakhutte, Naya Bazaar, Banasthali and Balaju Bypass.
The route no. 3 under which the Sajha buses will be operated is from Koteshwor to Syambhu via Tinkune, Baneshwor, Maitighar, Singha Durbar, Sahidgate, Tripureshwar, Teku, Kalimati, Soalteemode, Rabhibhawan, Kalanki and Sita Paila.
Under the route No 4, eight old buses ply on the roads to and from Gwarko, Satdobato, Lagankhel, Jawalakhel, Kupandole, Tripureshwar, New Road, Jamal, Lainchaur, Lazimpat, Panipokhari, Teaching Hospital, Narayan Gopal Chowk, Sahid Ganga Lal Hospital, Hattigauda and Budhanilakantha.
With the 30 new buses, Sajha Transportation now has a fleet of 46 buses. Of the 46 buses, 38 will hit the road in the Kathmandu Valley in few days and rest eight will be operated in four regular routes out of the Valley.
Ten more deluxe buses to be operated
Furthermore, Sajha Yatayat is also preparing to introduce 10 new deluxe buses on the long route. A ‘semi-deluxe’ bus will come into operation in the Valley soon as a model operation.
Sajha Transportation has forwarded procurement of the new buses through its own resources, shared Pandey.
