Kathmandu, May 13, 2018: Sandeep Lamichhane, a young nepali cricketer, has made a memorable debut in the IPL on Saturday. He debuted for the Delhi Daredevils team against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
He came off as an opening bowler for the Delhi side claiming a wicket and giving away 25 runs in four wickets he bowled. He maintained an economy of 6.25 runs per over for the day. He is the first Nepali player to debut for in the IPL.
He had spent previous 11 matches on the bench before being awarded the debut by the Delhi Daredevils coach, Ricky Ponting.
His team remains at the bottom of the eight team league and the chances of advancing to the play offs is slim for this season.
He had signed a contract of 2 million Indian rupees to play for Delhi Daredevils for this season.
Only one player, Shakti Gauchan, had undergone a trial for IPL side Rajasthan Royals previously. He failed to make it to the playground with the team due to issues related to health and fitness, sources say.
