Kathmandu, May 17, 2018: Sandeep Lamichhane has been selected for the ICC World XI to play in a T20 match against the defending champions West Indies to be held at Lord’s on May 31. The game is being organized to raise funds for stadiums that were destroyed by hurricane in the Caribbean.

The new found Nepali sensation got included in the squad as Shakib Al Hasan pulled out of the match due to personal reasons. The team is led by England captain Eoin Morgan and includes the likes of Sahid Afridi, Tamim Iqbal, Dinesh Karthik, Rashid Khan.

The West Indies side is the T20 World Cup defending champion and includes players like Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Marlon Samuels and Andre Russel among others. Sandeep has previously faced Chris Gayle’s Royal Bangalore side playing for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL.

Upon learning about his selection in the ICC World XI squad, Sandeep was quoted saying “It is an honour for the entire country and passionate followers of Nepal cricket, as well as the indicator that we are making our mark on the international game.”

He also added that training, sharing the dressing room and playing with some of the trend-setters who we saw on television while growing up is something he looked forward to. This is an opportunity for him to learn and improve and I am committed to cashing in on this.
