SAPTAKOSHI WATER CROSSES DANGER line

Inaruwa, Aug. 10: The incessant rainfall at the hilly district for the past few days has increased the water level in Saptakoshi River to a dangerous level.

Superintendent of Police, Masaud Alam Kha, said that the red light denoting danger situated at Koshi barrage has been switched on after the water level in the river increased all of sudden at 9:00 pm Saturday.

According to the Koshi Barrage Control Room, the water level in the river was measured 205,630 cusecs per second at 9:00 pm Saturday while it was 197,375 cusecs per second at 7:00 pm.

Although 50 doors of the Koshi barrage should be opened after water level crosses 150,000 cusecs per second, only 26 doors are opened so far, it is learnt.
