Pokhara, December 08, 2015: The Barpandeythum Multipurpose Community Studies Centre, Bharatpokhari, has provided books worth Rs 770,000 to 10 different community schools of the southern belt of Kaski district with support from The Asia Foundation.
The headmasters of Shanti Udaya Higher Secondary School in Barpandeythum, Kalika Secondary School in Aanpubhanjyang, Chandi Secondary School Barmajhthar and other schools of the southern belt of the district were provided with books for the schools’ libraries.
Assistant District Education Officer Gagansingh Thapa and other dignitaries handed over the books on behalf of the Centre amidst a programme on Monday.
On the occasion, Thapa said that reading culture in students should be developed for proper utilisation of the books and urged all to avoid the trend of just keeping the books in the library.
Chairman of Centre Keshavraj Lamsal, vice-chair Chet Bahadur Mahat and leaders of political parties active in Lekhnath Municipality-18 also spoke the need for maximum utilisation of the libraries.
