Jajarkot, Aug. 5: Students in Jajarkot district have been hit hard after most of the schools have started charging Rs 5,000 for character certificate.

Students said that they have been compelled to return empty-handed after they failed to afford the charge demanded by the most of the schools for the character certificate.

Shiva Shankar Higher Secondary School, Jagatipur, Pancha Bhayar Secondary School, Khagenkot, Janaki Secondary School, Maide and Pajaru Secondary School are the schools charging Rs 5,000 from the students for the character certificate.

Students have been deprived of getting the character certificate after the schools charged high fees in a monopolistic manner. The character certificates are at the schools after students of simple family could not afford the high fees for the same.

Students have been deprived of pursuing higher education after the schools did not provide character certificate without paying the charge.

Meanwhile, students on Monday filed complaint against the Shiva Shankar Higher Secondary School at the District Education Office and District Administration Office, Jajarkot, citing the school had charged high fees for the character certificate.

Students have demanded action against principals and chairmen of the schools charging high fees for the character certificate.

District Education Officer Bishnu Narayan Shrestha said that action against such schools would be taken immediately.
